As part of the Metropolitan Opera Guild’s Creating Original Opera Program, 5th graders at Brooks Museums Magnet Elementary School formed a company called Brooks Theater.

Students worked from October-April to write, compose, design, advertise, and stage their original production, called “American Students in a Japanese Fantasy.” We are so proud of all of the hard work the students, their teachers, and parent volunteers did to make this project a success. Brooks is the ONLY school in Wake County, and one of few in the state, to participate in the Creating Original Opera Program. Way to go!
This project is supported by United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, with funds from the United Arts Campaign and the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency funded by the state of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional funding has been provided by the Brooks Museums Magnet Elementary School PTA.
