Thirty-five 4th and 5th grade students performed in this year’s Pieces of Gold performance. Pieces of Gold is an annual arts extravaganza sponsored by the Wake Education Partnership and the Wake County Public School System. Any school in the county is invited to audition to be in the show in the fall and a select group of schools is invited to perform.
Our school was chosen to perform and students rehearsed before school for several months to prepare. Students performed the Japanese folk song “Sakura” and accompanied themselves on barred instruments. They interpreted the song through creative movement using balloons, flags, and baskets. Their performance was described as being hauntingly beautiful and students represented our school with pride. We are proud of their hard work! They will perform “Sakura” at Artsplosure in May so make plans to join us then!
